Hermanus and the Southern Right Lodge are situated approx. 1 1/4 hours drive in a south-east direction from Cape Town International Airport. For visitors without transport we are able to organise an Airport Transfer. Hermanus is an experience in itself with a great number of quaint shops and an excellent variety of cuisine. Surrounded by well-named wine estates, makes wine tasting a well worth pastime. We are virtually surrounded by Fynbos, a unique ecosystem of 7000 species found in the Cape of Good Hope. The display of flowers is home to many species of colourful birds, a joy to the eye of bird watchers. Hermanus and its environment offer ideal opportunities for Hiking & Biking. The Fernkloof Nature Reserve with its innumerable fauna & flora, colourful Fynbos urgently invites you to indulge in the beauty of nature on foot or by bike.
The Southern Right Lodge is located in Hermanus - Heights one of the sought-after quarters of Hermanus, neighbouring the Fernkloof Nature Reserve and it offers breath-taking views. Situated on the Whale Coast Route, visitors flock to Hermanus to watch the Southern Right Whales breaching, diving and rolling in Walker Bay. Their journey stretches over 2500 kilometres from the Antarctic to the warmer waters of the Southern Cape Coast each year to give birth and present a spectacular display to photographers from all over the world. Therefore we supply binoculars in every room, to ensure you spot the welcoming blow of displaced water from these huge mammals with brains bigger than humans.
Southern Right Lodge is offering 4 generous en-suite rooms with double beds and separate entrances. For families with children the option exists for additional cots. Our rooms are very comfortable and equipped with TV, refrigerator, hair-dryer, and the possibility for tea/coffee making. Our large hearty breakfast - buffet, clear blue pool situated in a landscaped garden/terrace- environment and Braai (BBQ) facility cordially invite you to enjoy your stay with us. An off-street Parking - Area is to your use.
Our charming environment and moderate climate, similar to that of the European Mediterranean so popular amongst Tourists from all continents, offers vacation possibilities all through the year. Diving, Shark Observation, Jet Ski Rental, and Boat and Surfboard Charter complete your fun-filled holiday.
